A few words about learning This might seem like I am stating the obvious, but one of the single most rewarding things you can do with your time is learn a second language. While you have all learnt English to a high level, my Chinese is still pretty poor by most peoples’ standards. In a bid to improve then, recently I have made more of an effort to study Chinese in my spare time. So if I’m on the bus, for example, no longer do I listen to my ipod – instead I get my Chinese book out. If I’m honest, I’d rather listen to music; it’s much easier and I can switch my brain off for the duration of my commute. But it doesn’t have the same reward that putting in the effort to learn a language brings. The other day I went to get a haircut. I’ve been to that salon a number of times and previously never had the confidence to speak to the lovely girl who massages my head. This time, however, thanks to my studies, I was able to engage in simple conversation with her, and it really felt great. I still have a long, long way to go, but studying anything is a lengthy journey. It takes perseverance and determination. Keep putting in a bit of effort everyday for learning English (maybe even just picking up a few new words) and you’ll progress quicker than you realise. Find a suitable balance between work and play and, most of all, enjoy the time you spend studying! The Sea For those of you who’ve ever spoken with me, I’m sure you will have heard me going on about the beach at Dameisha. I live rather close to the beach, and so am fortunate enough to be able to visit it pretty much everyday. Over the last 7 months I really have fallen in love with the ‘beach’ lifestyle; pretty much all of my days-off are spent there and most of the time I’ll go for a swim in the sea. In the UK I couldn’t have lived much father from the sea if I’d tried. I’d visit the sea once a year, if lucky; maybe that explains why I love going to the beach so much now – making up for lost time. The reason I love the beach so much? The peace and tranquility it affords me. Working in the city center, it’s nice to have somewhere to go where the air is fresh and life slows down again. It’s a simple life out there but I wouldn’t change it for anything.

Ross: Do you know who the woman is? Ross:I know, she was the one before Pu Er.Pu Er was the last emperor. Jo: Pu Er? Tea? The last emperor's name was Pu Yi. Ross: Oh,yes,it's Pu Yi.
